Fernando Porras Jr., a 64-year-old resident of Hammond, Indiana, has been sentenced to 96 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing methamphetamine and cocaine. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Court Judge Gretchen S. Lund, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor.
Porras Jr. will also serve four years of supervised release following his prison term.
Court documents show that on January 22, 2024, Porras Jr. sold methamphetamine and cocaine at a gas station in Gary, Indiana. Between May 2023 and March 2024, he conducted additional sales of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine in Dolton, Illinois, as well as Gary. He has a previous conviction for dealing LSD.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Lake County Combined Task Force – Indiana High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program. The Drug Enforcement Administration’s North Central Laboratory provided assistance during the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Toth prosecuted the case.
