Esteban Quino-Rosas, a 45-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to time served for felony reentry of a removed alien. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Court Judge Philip P. Simon, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor.
Quino-Rosas had been detained since September 26, 2025. In addition to the time served, he will be subject to one year of supervised release if he remains in or returns to the United States within that period after expected removal proceedings.
Court documents indicate that Quino-Rosas was previously removed from the United States in 2012.
The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations with support from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Emily Morgan prosecuted the case.
