Felipe Bautista-Ramirez, a 29-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to six months in prison for felony reentry of a removed alien. The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Philip P. Simon following Bautista-Ramirez’s guilty plea, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor.

Bautista-Ramirez will also serve one year of supervised release if he remains in or returns to the United States within that period after expected removal proceedings.

Court documents show that Bautista-Ramirez has a prior arrest history that includes theft charges. He had previously been removed from the United States twice, once in May 2024 and again in September 2024.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations with assistance from the Hobart Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nadia Wardrip.
