Kevin Pope, Jr., a 39-year-old resident of South Bend, Indiana, has been sentenced to 66 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty. Following his release from prison, Pope will serve three years of supervised release.
Court documents show that Pope sold methamphetamine and fentanyl on five occasions in South Bend during October and November 2024. In December 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence, where they discovered more than 30 grams of fentanyl, approximately one kilogram of pills containing methamphetamine, about 90 grams of cocaine, over $22,000 in cash, and a loaded handgun.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with support from the South Bend Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Joel Gabrielse prosecuted the case.
“Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor announced the sentencing.”
